If you’re looking for a yummy holiday appetizer, that takes little time to make, but is sure to please, then you’ve come to the right place! These bacon wrapped dates are delicious… one of my favorite things to get when they are on the menu at restaurants. They are salty/crunchy from the bacon, and sweet/chewy from the date, which makes for an all around satisfying little app, that can be enjoyed in just one bite! I mean really….. you can’t go wrong when it comes to ANYTHING wrapped in bacon… am I right? ;)

Bacon Wrapped Dates

Makes: 14-20

Prep time: 10 mins

Bake time: 10-15 mins

Total time: 20-25 mins

Ingredients:

  • 7 pieces of bacon ( I used Hemplers, natural applewood smoked, uncured, thick sliced - From Costco), cut into 2-3 inch strips **

  • 14-20 Medjool dates, pitted ( I used Natural Delights, organic- From Costco)

** Depending on what thickness you want the bacon, you can just cut the bacon into halves or thirds and wrap around date… or you can cut into half or thirds, and then length wise in half to make a thinner slice of bacon. Doing this will allow for you to wrap more dates! **

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment.

  3. If dates contain pits, remove pits.

  4. Cut bacon into halves or thirds, dependent on the size of your dates, half is better to wrap larger dates. If you want thinner slices of bacon, cut again length wise.

  5. Wrap bacon around date, and place down on baking sheet. You want the sides of the bacon that are cut touching the baking sheet, so that they bake shut and stay wrapped around the date.

  6. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until bacon is browned.

  7. Let cool before serving…. AND ENJOY!

TIP: If you are having trouble keeping the bacon wrapped around the date… try adding a toothpick to hold them together!
