Hemp Milk

Making homemade milk alternatives has become quite the trend these days! To me it makes complete sense because why spend $4-$5 on pre-made when you whip up your own in no time! I wasn't into making my own until I came across Ellie's Best nut milk bags. They are so convenient and leave your nut/seed milk smooth as can be! I have been enjoying making hemp milk because it is SIMPLE. I buy a big bag of Monitoba Harvest hemp hearts from Costco for about $11, and I can make several batches of milk to have to add to smoothies, cereal, oats, lattes, and more! It's simply 1 cup hemp hearts, to 4 cups of water, and then if you wish to add some flavor then do, and WA LA! You can easily do this with the same amount of cashews, almonds, or even pecans!

Homemade Hemp Milk

Time: 10 minutes

Makes: 4 cups

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup hemp hearts
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tsp. organic raw honey (or maple syrup)
  • 1.5 tsp alcohol free vanilla extract
  • 1 Ellie's Best nut milk bag

Instructions:

In a high speed blender, blend hemp hearts with water until thoroughly blended. Strain with Ellie's Best nut milk bag into a bowl, squeezing bag to remove all hemp milk. Add hemp milk back into the blender, add honey, vanilla extract, and blend until mixed. Pour into glass container and store in fridge for up to 4 days.
