Where we stayed:

Hotel Bellwether: This was a lovely hotel right on the water. Definitely one of the nicest hotels as far as room / location that we’ve stayed in so far! We had a room with a balcony overlooking the marina, as well as the puget sound. It was called the Deluxe Bay View room. It was super cozy, and the perfect size for just the two of us. The bathroom was newly renovated with a nice walk in shower, and jetted tub! The bathroom also had little doors that opened up to the room so you could see the view outside, we thought that was neat! There is also a spa associated with the hotel thats right outside the front entrance. This was super cool because I was able to get a pre natal massage without traveling too far. While there we also found out that the hotel is super dog friendly, and you can have dogs on the 1st and second floors! The entire staff was super friendly, and we felt super safe even given the Covid pandemic!

Restaurants we visited:

  • Lighthouse Bar & Grill

This is actually the restaurant located right under our hotel. It has a stunning view of the water, and is honestly one of the few we found in Bellingham that is lucky enough to have the water view! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and we sat outside. I got the Seafood risotto which was delicious, and Trev got a prime rib dip which he enjoyed as well. The only downside to this restaurant was that our server was SLOW, and they didn’t have umbrellas on all their tables. So when we got placed at one that was without an umbrella we basically melted in the hot sun! :P (Trev especially) It was a little uncomfortable, but the views made it worth it in my opinion! :)

  • Mount Bakery Cafe

OMG. This place is a MUST GO! It’s located right in downtown Bellingham which was about a 4 min drive from our hotel (there is also one located in Fairhaven). We were highly encouraged to get the eggs Benedict on a waffle, so we did and wow, just wow, it did not disappoint! We also got the french toast and that was delicious too!! Our outdoor table had a little view of the water which was a fun little perk too!

  • Mallard Ice Cream

Also located in downtown Bellingham AKA really close to our hotel, this was the prime ice cream spot to go! Their ice cream is super delicious, and being the indecisive person I am I loved the fact they do an “indecisive scoop” where you can split one scoop into two flavors! They have the option to do bowl or cone, or you can even do a milkshake! We went both nights we were in Bellingham. The only down side was that the second night we wanted a milkshake and upon ordering found out that they don’t do milkshakes within an hour of closing, which was kind of a bummer! Overall a wonderful and yummy ice cream spot to visit!

  • AB Crepes

This place was also one of our favs, and again located in downtown Bellingham actually right down the way from Mallard Ice Cream. We wanted to try both a sweet and savory crepe so we decided to order both and share. We got on Strawberry Nutella crepe w/ ABC sauce (not sure what this is but it’s delish), and we also got an egg, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, ham crepe! Both were absolutely amazing!! I dream about these crepes to this day. :P

  • Black Sheep

This place had super yummy chips and guac, tacos, and drinks! Trev got the Carnitas tacos, and I got the Chicken Tinga. Both were very flavorful and the prices here are super reasonable! They have fun alcoholic drink options, Trev got a margarita, and they even made me a virgin Mojito! Due to Covid they had the street in front of the restaurant closed off and provided extra outdoor seating. It was a fun vibe for sure!

  • Camber Coffee

This coffee shop was super cute! I also loved that they not only had coffee but they had other fun drinks as well. I got the liquid sunshine which was a super refreshing drink made up of fresh ginger, turmeric syrup, fresh squeezed lemon, and sparkling water!

  • Avenue Bread

The one place we went to that wasn’t in downtown Bellingham! There is one in downtown Bellingham, but we stopped at the one in Fairhaven on our way out of town. They have delicious sandwiches both cold and hot, salads and soups! They make their own bread which makes the experience extra delicious! Trev got a cold sandwich, the Avenue Club with chips, and I got half a hot sandwich, the turkey pesto melt with a salad. Both of us enjoyed our sandwiches very much and will for sure be going back when we make our way up there again! :)

Places we explored

  • Boulevard Park

This was a beautiful path right along the puget sound down below the town of Fairhaven. It starts as a cement path, then turns to gravel, and eventually turns into a boardwalk over the water. There is a Woods Coffee located right along the trail too which is neat because you can grab a drink and go for a beautiful walk!

  • Larrabee State Park

This along with Boulevard park was one of our favorite scenic spots! You do need a discover pass, which you can purchase at the office on site (if they are open) either for the day or the whole year. They also have little stations where you can purchase a day pass if the office is closed, OR you can be like us and order a year pass online and write your temporary pass info on a piece of paper and leave it in your dash.:P This spot was great because it was big, had a lovely beach and trails with gorgeous views, and was very family friendly!

  • Whatcom Falls

This was a cool spot to see the waterfalls, lots of walking trails, and they have really neat swimming holes from what we saw! However it was VERY busy. Which I think had to do with the fact it was a no pass park, so anyone and everyone could go at their leisure! A cool spot to visit if you have some time, but not a necessity!

  • Zuanich Point Park

This is the park that was right across the marina from our hotel room! It has a nice short path that takes you along the water, and a great big grassy area. When looking out our room window, there were a couple times we saw some yoga classes happening here, which was neat!

  • Waterfront GP plant- pump track

We didn’t actually get out and go explore this, but we did drive by. The pump track is AWESOME looking if you’re into that. They also had really cool spray painted walls that would be fun for pictures, and real close by there was a rocky beach that was always pretty mellow when we passed by!

Where we shopped

  • The Chipper Bird

This was a cute little store we stumbled upon in downtown Bellingham while waiting for our table at Black Sheep to be ready. I got these really cute brass heart earrings, and a dress that will work for me both during and after pregnancy! They had a great selection of cute, and pretty affordable clothes, as well as jewelry!

  • Bellingham Farmers Market

Also located in downtown Bellingham, this was a really good sized market! A lot of vendors, mostly for vegetables or food products, and a couple other things sprinkled in as well! :)

Overall Trev and I had a really fun time together that weekend, and we were very pleased to see all that Bellingham had to offer! If you travel to any of the places I recommend I’d love to know your thoughts / experiences so feel free to share in the comments below! :)
